Question:

Find the time when A and B meets for the first time if they are running around a circular track of length 2000 m in the opposite direction with speeds 30 m/s and 70 m/s .

Answer:

Speed of A = 30m/s.
Speed of B = 70 m/s.
Length of Track = 2000 m.

They are in opposite directions. Hence ,

Try to visualise, they will meet the first time when sum of distance covered by A and B = 1000

Now let's assume A and B to be one single body, and hence everything considered will be relative,

Relative Distance = 2000
Relative Speed = 30+70= 100

Time taken = Relative Distance/Relative Speed = 2000/100 = 20 s

Hence they will meet for the first time after 20 seconds.
