From my experience I have learnt that they need to be heard patiently and should not be discouraged from expressing themselves. This helps them become more comfortable with the teacher which is one of the keys to effective learning. As far as specific subjects are concerned, I teach English and science. Being a language English learning must include all the four aspects : listening, speaking, reading and writing. When concepts are related to the real life experiences they make more sense to the children and that's how a subject like science needs to be taught to the students. Teaching is a two way process where both the students and teachers must be involved for teaching to be fun.

In these three years I have been able to motivate my students ( women and children) to speak in English without any hesitation. I've seen them getting comfortable and confident within a few months.
