First of all, incorrect language use, as in, wrong use of grammar, wrong gender, the incorrect pronunciation of words, wrong length of vowels, misusing formal and informal language. All these indicate that the person has not learned the proper use of the language, and has failed to adapt to the new rules. Thus, a native German speaker would quickly notice, they even know by listening to accents, except few such as half Russian half German speakers.

Indeed, intonation differs from one place to another. There are many instances where people guess the country by just listening to the way they speak a common language such as English. People from different countries or certain places have different accents. Especially while conversing in English,  Germans can even recognise whether the person is a native German speaker or not!

If you want to learn German and speak fluently and confidently, then you need to invest a lot of time. The non-gender concepts, endless compound words and many more of this language can sometimes be confusing, if not spend enough time. That’s why a new learner should spend an ample amount of time in learning the basic rules of German first. If you have the opportunity, then start spending time with the native speakers. Also, while learning anything new, you should not be afraid of committing mistakes.

Without hesitation, you should just start speaking. Another very good way of getting over the fear of speaking is to sing. Learn German songs. Sing them loud...sing along. This will help you to overcome the speaking hesitations.
