Pikilothemous organisms are cold blooded animals, that is they cant control or maintain their body temperature at a constant range according to their wish. Hence, they have to adjust during extreme variations of temperatures by shifting their body, say aestivtion, hybernation or going deep in the see etc.

Homiothermal organisms or warm blooded animals can control or maintain their body temperature at a constant range by a phenomenon called as Homeostasis. Say for example, many higher order vertebrates like mammals. Humans beings say for example can maintain their body temperature in a narrow range around 37 deg celcius by mechanism such as sweating, piloerection etc.

Homeothermic animals are those animals which are Warm-Blooded (Mammals and Birds). Poikilothermic animals are those which are Cold-Blooded (Fishes, Amphibians and Reptiles). The simple difference is If you put a reptile in refrigerator, it survives for a longer period because it has the ability to adjust to environmental temperature. If you put a bird into a refrigerator, it may survive but not as long as the reptile because it dies due to extreme chilling. Same goes for poikilothermous and homoiothermous organisms too.
