Atomic mass of H=1u Atomic mass of O=16u Now, for H2O there are 2 Hydrogens and 1 oxygen So multiply the mass of Hydrogen with 2, mass of Oxygen with 1 and add both 1*2+16*1=2+16=18

Molecular mass of H2O=2 × Atomic Mass of H+Atomic Mass of O=2+16=18 a.m.u OR H2O: The molecular mass of water, H2O = (2 × Atomic mass of hydrogen) + (1 × Atomic mass of oxygen) = = 2.016 u + 16.00 u = 18.016 = 18.02 u

Molecular mass of H2O=2 × Atomic Mass of H+Atomic Mass of O=2+16=18 a.m.u

Tutor

Molecular mass of H2 = 1*2 g = 2g; Molecular mass of O = 16g; So, Molecular mass of H2O = (2 + 16)g = 18g
Comments

Tutor

molecular mass of H2O = 2 x atomic mass of Hydrogen + atomic mass of Oxygen = 2 x 1 + 16 = 18 a.m.u
