BITSAT is a 3-hour duration exam. The test consists of 4 parts:
The BITSAT questions are of multiple-choice types. Each correct answer fetches +3 marks and each wrong answer deducts -1 mark. No marks are deducted for unanswered questions. Candidates can skip a question and move to the next question. There a total of 150 questions divided into the following:
The BITSAT exam doesn’t have any limitation for individual parts of the test. A candidate can get back to any of the previous questions he/she answered and change the answers.
If an aspiring candidate answers all the 150 questions without skipping any question, he/she will have an option of attempting 12 extra questions from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology only, 4 questions from each parts, if time is left. However, once a candidate opts for extra questions, he/she cannot go back to correct previous questions. It will not be a good idea to answer those 12 extra questions if you are not sure of the answers, as 1 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer. Proceed, only when you are 100% confident of getting the answers right.
A candidate needs to answer 150 questions in 180 minutes. The extra 12 questions will provide an opportunity to highly meritorious students to score better.
BITSAT Score
Once the BITSAT test is completed, a candidate can see his/her result at the computer screen (i.e. number of right and wrong answers) with the total score. He/she can also print the BITSAT score report at the BITS website. A candidate is not allowed to repeat the BITSAT test in the same year.
