Is it necessary to take JLPT from N5? If not, which test should I take? (I am a beginner, and I want to learn the Japanese language).

It's not necessary, but if you want to work in a Japanese company, you need a language certificate. So you have to appear in JLPT/ NAT examination. Japanese companies require it. If it's your hobby, then a certificate is not required.

Hi,
You can learn the Japanese language from any institute or tutor. It's not compulsory to give JLPT N5 exam As you can directly enrol for JLPT N3, N2 or N1. For job purposes, you should do at least JLPT N3 or N2.
But if you go with N5, it will give you an idea about how much you know in Japanese, at what level you are at present, and give you an idea about the JLPT exam pattern.
So I suggest you should give JLPT N5 and N4.
Thanks!

No, it's not mandatory to appear in JLPT N5. You can attempt any level which is required for you. And there is another substitute for JLPT that is the NAT exam; you can also take this.
